Gearing up to do some Spring cleaning? Going to have some items you need to get rid of? Think of donating them to our local Habitat for Humanity!
The Nevada County Habitat for Humanity group has been around since 1995, but Habitat for Humanity has been helping communities for much longer. Founded in Americus, Georgia in 1976, Habitat for Humanity today operates around the globe and has helped build, renovate and repair more than 600,000 decent, affordable houses sheltering more than 3 million people worldwide. Our local Habitat for Humanity transforms lives and communities by bringing people together to build affordable homes for working families in need. Nevada County Habitat has built/provided homes to more than 34 families, housing over 149 individuals, including more than 99 children.
There is a severe and growing affordable housing crisis in California and in our county. With more than 48% percent of Nevada County residents paying more than they can afford in housing costs, we know that we must do more. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves.
You donate your items directly to our local Habitat at the ReStore in Grass Valley. Donations made to our Restore are tax deductible, and a receipt is provided. The proceeds from your items support Habitat’s mission to build affordable homes in our community. Also, reuse is good for the environment! Donations can be dropped off at the store Tuesday through Saturday 9am to 4pm.
